Food For Thought
November 29th, 2006 by Patricia Bishop
I have heard numerous times people make comments like these;
- I want to know God’s will for my life
- I want to be filled with His Spirit
- I want to be closer to God
- I want to do something for God
The one thing I have come to realize is this, God cannot fill us until He empties us. I guess it shouldn’t be such a difficult task but because we are so self-willed and self-centered this process can take a long time. We must pour ourselves out that He can pour Himself in. I know that seems so simple but that is the simple truth.
Letting go of all that we want and desire, laying it down at the cross and taking up His cross and following Him is the only way this will happen.
Jesus said, “And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me” (Matthew 10:38).
We know that we come as we are to Jesus and that salvation is free but we definitely must “count the cost”
What will it cost me you ask? It will cost you your life.
(Not physically, although there have been many martyrs who have give their life for His name sake.)
I pray God Bless You and Yours as we together continue on this journey
Patty
