Spiritual Warfare
April 10th, 2008 by Patricia Bishop
The cost of being endued with power from on high is quite great these days. The need for power in this battle is a must. Although it is a promise and a free gift the one desiring it must count the cost and with diligence pursue it.
You see satan is our enemy if we indeed are the children of God, born of His Spirit. He doesn’t care who he works through so long as he can keep us from receiving revelation knowledge of Jesus Christ, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (which is the enduement of power and fullness of the Spirit) and uniting with other believers to wage war against him and the kingdom of darkness. If we are not united then we pose no threat to the devil.
We must understand that if we ever again want to see the miracles of God, the signs following the believers, the deaf hear, the blind see, limbs restored, all manner of healings, people delivered and set free from demon possession, the dead raised (you get where I am coming from) we must be willing to consecrate ourselves unto God daily.
We must live in yeildedness, pray, and read God’s Word and maintain an up-to-date relationship with Him in order to live and keep this kind of power operating in our life.
Seeking this power gets the attention of our enemy when he see’s us gaining power over him. He locks us in his sights and begins to use the heavy artillery against us. For those who wage effective warfare and put him under their feet as a defeated foe the next battle will be persecution, often suffered at the hand of the religious world and family members.
Unfortunately, most people won’t pursue such power because of their unwillingness to endure such hardship and battle. It is much easier to just accept the measure of the Spirit of God one receives when born again and live a very shallow Christian life not ruffling too many worldly and demonic feathers. After all life is hard at it’s best, why create greater suffering and hardship on ones self?
As for my husband and I we have decided to go all the way with God and seek this promised fullness of the Spirit the supernatural power of God for believers today. We love our Heavenly Father and believe that we need this enduement of power given to us by Jesus Christ through the Baptism of the Holy Ghost to represent God in the earth today just as He would represent Himself.
We want to fulfill our call and we realize that if ever there was a time that we need this power it is now when their is infinitely more demon possessed people, more sick and diseased people, more false doctrines, more false teachers, and more divisions among Christians than at any other time in history.
Points to ponder:
- Every believer today receives the Spirit of adoption and is filled with the Spirit in a measure when born again.
- We must obey the same command of Jesus that He commanded His disciples prior to His ascension (for we are still in the same age) Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
- How do you think we are to fulfill the scripture of (John 14:12) Greater works than these shall ye do, if we don’t have the same power He had to accomplish these works?
- There must be an original(the real deal, the real McCoy, Genuine), for there to be a counterfeit, (imposter, impersonator, imitator).
- The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the Spirit without measure. (John 3:34, Matthew 20:20-23, Luke 4:8-21, Acts 10:38).
- God gives the Holy Ghost to those who 1) ask Him 2) obey him, Luke 11:13, Acts 5:32
- Did you know that this is one of the two things that Jesus died for read Galatians chapter 3 verses 13-14.
God Bless You Richly as we continue our journey with Him,
Patty Bishop
